Leadership and Community Engagement Training
 

The three-part Leadership and Community Engagement Training was a special opportunity offered by UR Action in partnership with Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic (now Transform Mid-Atlantic). The interactive workshops were held on the following dates and times:
  • Cohort 1: 5/31, 6/1, 6/3 @ 1-3 pm ET
  • ​Cohort 2: 6/1, 6/2, 6/3 @ 5-7 pm ET

What?

Interactive, lively two-hour workshops on each of the following three topics: 
  • ABCs for Constructive Dialogue: Achieve a shared understanding of different views on issues
  • Problem Tree Analysis: Deepen understanding of causes and effects of complex societal problems across systems, and pinpoint opportunities for intervention
  • ​Stakeholder and Influence Mapping: Determine how best to sequence your engagement with community stakeholders by analyzing your sphere of influence

Who?

The training was available to:
  1. CCMA Mid-Atlantic Civic Fellows
  2. CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA members
  3. CCMA staff members
  4. Students at institutions in the Mid-Atlantic HxCommunity​​

Why?
​

​1. Raise our awareness of the assumptions we bring into conversations across difference
2. Increase understanding of different views on issues 
​3. Strengthen our skills for communicating across divides 
4. Learn and apply a tool for analyzing complex societal problems
5. Learn and apply a tool for maximizing influence in community engagement efforts
6. Have fun!
