Uniting for Action: Maryland Taking Action Across Maryland's Urban/Rural Divide
What is this program all about? Uniting for Action: Maryland is a NON-PARTISAN initiative to build connections and take joint action to address community challenges across distance and difference in Maryland.
Who is leading this effort? Uniting for Action: Maryland is a collaboration among Urban Rural Action, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Towson University's Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility office.
Who is participating? Maryland residents 18+ from urban, suburban, and rural areas with wide-ranging views who are taking action to improve our state.
How are we doing this? We meet regularly online for structured discussion, small group brainstorming, and collaboration focused on TAKING ACTION to strengthen our democracy. Teams were formed to address issues in Maryland relating to education, systemic racism, and the economy.
Program activities to date:
June 11, 2020: Explored different perspectives of community members across Maryland on issues that impact our communities.
July 8, 2020: Discussed community challenges in Maryland: education, systemic racism, economy
August 6, 2020: Analyze causes and effects of community challenges in Maryland September 8, 2020: Design community projects to implement across Maryland
