Uniting for Action: Maryland Taking Action Across Maryland's Urban/Rural Divide
What was this program all about? Uniting for Action: Maryland was a non-partisan initiative in 2020-2021 to build connections and take joint action to address community challenges across distance and difference in Maryland.
Who led this effort? A consortium that consisted of Urban Rural Action, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Towson University's Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility office.
Who participated? Maryland residents 18+ from urban, suburban, and rural areas with wide-ranging views
How did we do this? We met regularly online for structured discussion, small group brainstorming, and collaboration focused on taking action to strengthen our communities. Teams were formed to address issues in Maryland relating to education, systemic racism, and the economy.
Program results: 6 all-program gatherings that brought together community members across different parts of MD
