UR Action strengthens urban-rural relationships and trust to promote national unity. We achieve this by: 1. Enhancing the skills of change-makers to advance civic engagement efforts, and 2. Addressing local social, economic, ecological, and political issues through the collaboration of diverse coalitions.
WHY FOCUS ON URBAN AND RURAL COMMUNITIES?
1. Divisions between urban and rural communities are significant and growing larger. 2. Urban-rural polarization is a proxy for other divisions, such as “reds" vs. "blues” and levels of racial, religious, and ethnic diversity. Collectively, these divisions are undermining social cohesion in the U.S. 3. Urban and rural areas sit near each other in regions across the nation, allowing for positive interactions to address challenges and build relationships while doing so.
