Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy

February - November 2024

Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy is a non-partisan civic engagement effort that brings together 28 community members (Uniters) to build relationships across differences, strengthen collaboration skills, explore different views on economic issues, and work together with community partners to address local economic challenges.

In February 2024, we will kick off the second iteration of our Oregon program.  We will focus program in four counties in Southern Oregon (Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath) that include both small urban centers and rural communities and residents with significant political, ethnic, and generational diversity.

Starting with a kick-off gathering in February 2024, Uniters will practice skills that help them understand the views of Oregonians different from themselves.
Over the following nine months they will gather five more times in person and several times online to analyze economic challenges and address them by working in county-level teams alongside community partners.

By the end of the program (November 2024), we will have collectively addressed some key economic challenges and developed individual skills to work across divides in the future.

The Oregon Uniters are on a mission to:

  1. Build relationships across divides
  2. Increase understanding of economic challenges in Oregon
  3. Strengthen individual collaboration and communication skills
  4. Tackle economic challenges in Oregon

Program Overview
Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy will follow a structure implemented in previous programs with four phases.
During each phase, the cohort gathers in person and online for relationship-building, skill-building, dialogue, analysis, and project design.

Projects with Community Partners
Each Oregon Uniter team within the broader cohort will partner with an Oregon community organization to design and implement a project that 1) addresses an economic challenge in their area identified by the group and 2) advances an initiative or goal of the organization.

We are currently searching for Community Partners for our 2024 program.   In 2023, we are partnering with the three organizations.
Click here to learn about these Community Partners including the projects they are implementing, in our 2022-2023 Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy program.

Our Oregon Team
Our program in 2024 will be organized and managed by an Oregon team that lives and works in the communities where we will implement our program.  UR Action was invited by Oregonians who recognize the impact of the serious fissures present in our state, to create a program that addresses those divisions.  It will be headed up by two program Co-Directors and four County Coordinators.

We are currently looking for County Coordinators in four counties (Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath) to support the Uniter project teams in each county hub.  County Coordinators support recruitment of Uniters within each county and serve as a team advisor for the projects that the Uniters and Community Partners implement.
