What is Compassionate Listeners of York? Compassionate Listeners of York (CLY) is York County's team of community members who are working across differences to prevent targeted violence in the Uniting to Prevent Targeted Violence (UPTV) in South-Central Pennsylvania Program. (Read more about UPTV and targeted violence here).
CLYis working with Suicide Prevention of York toimplement a support system to address risk factors (e.g., feelings of hopelessness and unworthiness) for suicide and targeted violence, thereby reducing loneliness, unworthiness, and violence and creating hope in York County.
We believe there are many common risk factors associated with both Targeted Violence and Suicide and that the “Question, Persuade, Refer" methodology applied to suicide prevention can also be applied to the prevention of targeted violence.
Targeted Violence: A Lesson
Targeted Violence: A Lesson looks at Targeted Violence more closely. This short interactive lesson addresses the risk factors of Targeted Violence, its connection to suicide, and what YOU can do to prevent it. Click here to get started.
