Uniting for Action on the Economy in Southern Oregon

Uniting for Action on the Economy in Southern Oregon is a non-partisan civic engagement effort that will bring together 28 community members (Uniters) in Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath counties to build relationships across differences, strengthen collaboration skills, explore different views on economic issues, and work together with community partners to address local economic challenges.

The program will run from February through November 2024. A two-step application process for residents of Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, and Klamath counties will open up in September 2023.

Program Goals:

  1. Build relationships across differences and decrease “othering"
  2. Enhance individual collaboration skills
  3. Better understand people with different views and experiences on economic, social, and political issues
  4. Address local economic challenges in southern Oregon
  5. Increase communities' cohesion and resilience

Program Overview
Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy will follow a structure implemented in previous programs with four phases.
During each phase, the cohort gathers in person and online for relationship-building, skill-building, dialogue, analysis, and project design.

Projects with Community Partners
Each Oregon Uniters team within the broader cohort will partner with a southern Oregon community organization to design and implement a project that 1) addresses an economic challenge in their area identified by the group and 2) advances a goal of the organization.

We are accepting expressions of interest from Community Partners for our 2024 program. In 2023, we partnered with three organizations.
Click here to learn about these Community Partners, including the projects they implemented, in our 2022-2023 Uniting for Action on the Oregon Economy program.

See our Community Partners page for more information about participating in our program.

Our Oregon Team
Our program in 2024 will be organized and managed by an Oregon team that lives and works in the communities where we will implement our program.  It will be led by two program Co-Directors and four County Coordinators.

We are currently accepting applications for County Coordinators in four counties (Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath) to support the Uniters project teams in each county hub.  County Coordinators support recruitment of Uniters within each county and serve as a team advisor for the projects that the Uniters and Community Partners implement.   See our job posting here.
