Wisconsin Uniters Cohort
Uniting to Prevent Targeted Violence in Southeast Wisconsin is a non-partisan civic engagement program that aims to prevent targeted violence (i.e. premeditated physical violence directed at a specific individual, group, or location, particularly violence aimed at someone because of their group identity or affiliation) in Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha counties.
We will select 28 community members (Uniters) from southeast Wisconsin to work across generational, geographic, political, racial, and other differences to prevent targeted violence. Uniters will strengthen collaboration skills, build relationships, and work with a dedicated community organization to implement a project in their county that supports the partner's efforts and addresses targeted violence. A $10,000 budget will support each initiative.
Our selective application process will run as follows:
We will ensure the Wisconsin Uniters cohort reflects the different backgrounds and viewpoints that make up our region. We therefore encourage you to apply to participate with another person who is DIFFERENT from you in a meaningful way.
UR Action will work closely with four community partners, each of which will partner with the Uniters in their county to implement an initiative that supports the partner's efforts and addresses targeted violence. A $10,000 budget will support each project.
